From Rabbitohs to Rings: Anthony Albanese and Jodie Haydon\’s Intimate Wedding Countdown

Prime Minister Albanese is set to wed fiancée Jodie Haydon this year in a private, non-political ceremony, confirming they will be surrounded only by \”family and loved ones.\” The nuptials follow their romantic Valentine’s Day engagement at The Lodge.

Darwin, Australia: The personal life of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is set to take centre stage as the countdown begins for his wedding to fiancée Jodie Haydon.

The couple, whose relationship began after a chance meeting over their shared passion for the South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2020, will marry before the year’s end, marking a historic occasion for a sitting Australian Prime Minister.

Albanese and Haydon’s engagement made headlines on Valentine’s Day in 2024. The Prime Minister proposed with a ring he helped design on a balcony at The Lodge in Canberra.

The Prime Minister captured the national mood the day after the proposal: \”It is such a joy to be able to share this news with people, and it’s wonderful that I’ve found a partner who I want to spend the rest of my life with.\”

Haydon confirmed the wedding will reflect their personal values, telling The Australian Women\’s Weekly it will be \”small and intimate,\” with the guest list restricted to \”family and loved ones.\” Crucially, the couple plans to keep the event non-political, with no world leaders on the guest list.

The wedding is also expected to feature a special guest: Toto, the couple\’s beloved cavoodle.

The couple’s commitment to building a life together was highlighted when they jointly purchased a $4.3 million beachside cliff-top mansion in the Central Coast town of Copacabana earlier this year.

Albanese was previously married to Carmel Tebbutt for 19 years, with whom he shares a son, Nathan Albanese, born in 2000. This new chapter with Haydon will be the first marriage of a Prime Minister while holding Australia’s highest office.
