Police to Prepare Coroner’s Report After Non-Suspicious Phillip Island Death

PHILLIP ISLAND: Victorian Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man who was pulled from the water at Surf Beach on Phillip Island today, with a mandatory report now being prepared for the coroner.

The incident unfolded in the early afternoon, approximately 1:10 PM, when members of the public successfully retrieved the unresponsive man from the surf. Passersby immediately initiated CPR at the shoreline; however, emergency efforts were tragically unsuccessful, and the man died at the scene.

Authorities have confirmed that the death is not considered suspicious, strongly suggesting the incident was a tragic drowning accident. The primary focus of the police investigation is now on formally identifying the deceased before a full report is submitted to the coroner’s court.

This process is standard procedure for unexpected fatalities and will allow for a full inquiry into the cause and manner of the man’s death. The community extends its condolences following the tragic event at the popular beach location.
