Inland Hubs to Bear the Brunt of Looming 46°C Heatwave

Weather forecast Australia: Four states set to swelter with over 40-degree days next week.

NATIONAL : As a formidable weather system prepares to track across the Australian continent, regional communities are being warned to prepare for some of the highest temperatures recorded this season. While the coast will see significant heat, the “peak” of the air mass will settle over the nation’s interior.

The city of Mildura is currently in the crosshairs for the most intense heat in Victoria. Forecasters suggest the regional hub could hit 45°C on Thursday. Similar conditions are expected across the border into New South Wales and South Australia’s Riverland region.

The origin point of the heat. By Monday, inland WA will already be grappling with mid-40s, providing the “engine room” for the system moving east.

Regional areas will see Tuesday and Wednesday peaks, with Adelaide likely hitting 41°C.

An extremely hot air mass will spread across the country this week, pushing temperatures towards the mid-to-high 40s in parts of Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales.

In a rare event, heatwave conditions are expected to stretch as far south as Tasmania. Regional Victoria will see a prolonged three-day spike starting Wednesday.

Inland New South Wales will see the mercury climb toward the high 40s by late next week.

Meteorologist Ben Domensino noted that the system is notable for its breadth. “Heatwave conditions are expected to impact parts of every state and territory next week,” he confirmed.

The highest intensity is currently modeled for the corridor between WA, South Australia, Victoria, and Tasmania. Residents in these areas are advised to review bushfire survival plans and minimize outdoor activity during the peak afternoon periods.
