Pinjarra Returns to Normal as Suspected Gunman Located

PINJARRA: The tense standoff in the town of Pinjarra has come to an end this evening after Western Australia Police successfully located the man at the center of a day-long firearm search.

The community, which was told to “remain inside and hidden from sight” earlier today, has been given the all-clear.

The alarm was first raised at 9:30 AM when a man was spotted acting suspiciously near Pollard Street. The situation escalated at 10:10 AM when CCTV captured a man carrying a “longarm” firearm through a residential yard.

Superintendent Darren Hart noted that while a projectile may have been fired into a home, the property was empty at the time. “Significant resources” were poured into the town throughout the afternoon to ensure resident safety.

At approximately 4:50 PM, WA Police released a statement confirming that an 18-year-old male was in custody. He is currently assisting police with inquiries into the day’s events.

“We would like to thank the public for their cooperation during this sensitive operation,” the statement read. Multiple properties in Pinjarra and Mandurah were searched during the hunt, but police are confident that the primary threat has been neutralized.

While the immediate threat is over, police remain in the area to continue their forensic investigations on Pollard Street. Residents are encouraged to contact Triple Zero (000) if they notice any further suspicious activity or have CCTV footage from this morning that has not yet been shared with investigators.
