TEHRAN : The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Naval Forces announced on Sunday that they are finalizing preparations to enforce a “New Persian Gulf Order.” This declaration signals a permanent departure from the previous maritime status of the Strait of Hormuz, which has been largely paralyzed since the onset of hostilities on February 28, 2026.
The Guards warned that conditions in the waterway “will never return to its former status,” specifically targeting U.S. and Israeli naval and commercial interests.
The naval force is reportedly completing “operational preparations” to implement a state-mandated plan for the region.
Since the start of the conflict, Iran has allowed only “limited traffic,” effectively blockading a route that typically carries 20% of the world’s oil and gas.
The IRGC’s statement follows renewed threats from U.S. President Donald Trump, who warned of strikes against Iranian “power plants and bridges” should the shipping route remain obstructed. In the Iranian Parliament, lawmakers are further escalating the situation by proposing the imposition of sovereign tolls and taxes on any vessel attempting to navigate the passage.
Amidst the tension, Oman has emerged as a potential mediator. The Omani state news agency confirmed that high-level talks were held on Sunday between Muscat and Tehran aimed at “easing passage” through the strait, though no formal breakthrough has been reported.
