The Semenyo Factor Why Pep Guardiola is Prioritizing the Bournemouth Star

MANCHESTER : As Manchester City hunt down Arsenal in a high-stakes Premier League title race, Pep Guardiola has identified a specific profile missing from his right flank: the explosive, direct power of Antoine Semenyo.

Semenyo offers a physical profile distinct from City’s current technical wingers. His ability to drive at defenders with pace and his clinical finishing from tight angles provide a “Plan B” for a City side that occasionally struggles against low blocks. Turning 26 in early January, Semenyo is viewed as a player entering his physical prime, ready for immediate impact.

Semenyo’s arrival would inevitably lead to a reshuffle in the City squad. Sources suggest that to accommodate the Ghanaian, the club may consider moving on either Savinho or Oscar Bobb.

Savinho, who was the subject of interest from Tottenham in the summer, could find himself back on the market if a significant fee is offered.

Oscar Bobb, highly rated by the fans, may seek a loan or permanent move to ensure regular starting minutes.

While all interested clubs are reportedly offering similar financial packages, Semenyo’s decision is expected to be based on “personal sporting ambitions.” The lure of competing for the Champions League and Premier League under Guardiola is a significant factor. Furthermore, the player is keen for a swift resolution to avoid a protracted “transfer saga” that could impact his family or his performance on the pitch.

Signing Semenyo for £65m would be a statement of intent. If City secure him within that critical 10-day January window, it provides Guardiola with a fresh weapon for the season’s second half, potentially tipping the scales in the race for silverware.
