Potential Traffic Disruptions in Central Dhaka

DHAKA: Commuters and residents in Central Dhaka should prepare for significant traffic congestion and potential diversions on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, due to a political procession scheduled by the BNP.

The rally is expected to move through the following key junctions between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM:

Central Shaheed Minar (Starting Point)

Shiv Bari / Jagannath Hall Crossing

Doyel Chattar

High Court Intersection

National Press Club (Final Gathering)

Avoid the DU Campus Area: Students and faculty are advised to utilize the Nilkhet or Shahbagh entries to avoid the Shaheed Minar bottleneck.

For those traveling from Old Dhaka toward Paltan or Motijheel, consider using the Mayor Hanif Flyover or the English Road corridor to bypass the Secretariat area.

Expect delays for buses operating on the Mirpur-Paltan and Azimpur-Gulistan routes during the late morning hours.

Local law enforcement is expected to be deployed along the route to manage the flow of vehicles, though intermittent stoppages are likely.
