Swindon Town Defends Captain Ollie Clarke Against FA Ruling
Swindon Town condemns the FA’s decision to ban captain Ollie Clarke, questioning the “balance of probabilities” used in the sexual misconduct ruling.
Colorado: While the record books will show that Valentino Guseli lost his World Cup lead in Aspen this weekend, the Australian snowboarder won over the crowd with a display of grace and sportsmanship that defined the event.
Coming off a career-high victory in Calgary, the 20-year-old Guseli faced immense pressure at the Aspen Halfpipe World Cup. Ultimately, he finished in fourth place—a result that saw the yellow leader’s bib pass to his fierce rival, Yuto Totsuka.

Valentino Guseli of Team Australia competes in his second run of the Aspen Snowmass Men’s Snowboard Halfpipe Finals.
The competition was a tactical battle of nerves. Guseli’s best effort of 86.75 was a testament to his world-class ability, yet he found himself squeezed out of the top three by a surging Japanese contingent and Italy’s Alessandro Barbieri.
As Shuichiro Shingeno bumped Guseli into fourth place just before the final run, the Australian was left with a mountain to climb. He improved his score on his final attempt, but it wasn’t quite enough to crack the 90-point barrier set by the leaders.
Despite the visible disappointment of falling short of the podium, Guseli’s first instinct was to celebrate the success of his peers.
“He does look a little bit disappointed, but he has gone straight over [to the winner’s circle to congratulate them],” commentators noted on the FIS live stream. “That is just something we live to see in World Cup snowboarding.”

Shuichiro Shigeno (L) is hugged by teammate Yuto Totsuka (R).
For Yuto Totsuka, the victory was a long-awaited breakthrough after a string of second-place finishes. His 90.50 score stood firm even after a celebratory tumble on his victory lap. Totsuka now leads the standings with 260 points to Guseli’s 210.
With the Olympics on the horizon, the rivalry between these two young stars is shaping up to be the defining narrative of the season. Guseli may have lost the bib in Aspen, but his performance and character suggest the battle for the world title is far from over.
