DHAKA, Bangladesh: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today attended the grand Victory Day celebrations at the National Parade Ground, observing a spectacular display of national pride, military skill, and patriotic fervor.
The centerpiece of the commemoration marking the country’s 54 years of independence was a historic parajump: 54 paratroopers drawn from the Bangladesh Army, Navy, and Air Force performed a synchronized, national flag-bearing skydive. This special aerial tribute was organized to honor the country’s 54th anniversary and was widely reported to be an attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest simultaneous flag-parachuting display.

Prof. Yunus watched the breathtaking display, which also included separate fly-past exercises and aerobatic maneuvers by the armed forces. The crowd was also treated to a special Victory Day band show, featuring service members and marching bands.
Following the displays, the Chief Adviser personally exchanged greetings with the 54 paratroopers and took part in a photo session with the service members, acknowledging their precision and commitment.
The event was part of the nation’s elaborate programmes paying homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives for Bangladesh during the nine-month Liberation War that culminated in the surrender of Pakistani occupation forces on this day in 1971.
